Sports Nutrition: Awareness Towards Health!

Recent trends like growing awareness for fitness have changed a lot, especially when it comes to sports nutrition which includes protein powder, sports drinks, supplements, protein bars, creatine, performance enhancers, and others consumed by athletes, bodybuilders, and weightlifters. Although, the Sports Nutrition Market items have increased a lot in recent times.


According to Astute Analytica, the revenue of the sports nutrition category was at an all-time high and reported a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 4.8 percent over the forecast period of 2022-2030.


Problem of Obesity

Increasing awareness of fitness among young people has pushed sales in this sector. According to data from WHO (World Health Organization), over 1.9 billion people were overweight, which is over 39% of the global population and 13% people of the population is in the obese category. Take America as an example, this country is facing a serious problem of obesity for years and even the situation didn't improve by now.


Nearly 1 out of every 3 people in the United States falls in the overweight category and 2 out of every 5 people falls under the obese category which is 30.7% (overweight) and 42.4% (obese) respectively. In 2021, the year of covid pandemic changed a lot of things and made people aware of fitness, its importance, and its health concerns linked with obesity.


Awareness of Fitness and Nutritional Intake

Now things are changing and positively moving forward towards exercises and workouts. People have started doing workouts which have resulted in more consumption of sports nutritional goods which has uplifted the market of sports nutrition.


People consume more protein powder, bars, and supplements. Although this shows the awareness of being fit these supplements aren't completely safe and may cause damage to body organs. Increased intake of sports nutrition is resulting in kidney failures, and liver and intestine problems.


Awareness of being physically fit and becoming a part of a healthy society is equally important but it should be achieved in a sustainable way.
